The top-seeded Scott City Beavers, behind a double-double from Jackson Rumford, held off the Sterling Black Bears to claim the tourney title by the score of 49-45 on Friday night in the Gleason Center at Sterling College. Rumford, a football commit to Kansas State, had 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Beavers' efforts while playing all 32 minutes.
Despite shooting just 36 percent from the field, the Beavers (10-2) knocked down nine from beyond the arc, while Sterling was just four of 12 from distance. Sterling was led by junior Boston Ekart with 19 points and 12 rebounds. The Bears (8-3) shot 41 percent from the field for the game, but just seven of 12 from the foul line.
