Led by senior Kat Blanchat, the Smoky Valley Lady Vikings controlled the boards to pull away in the fourth quarter to defeat Sterling 33-27 for fifth place on Friday afternoon at Sterling High School. Blanchat, who played the entire contest, had 15 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Vikings effort.
Smoky Valley (3-7) outrebounded the Lady Bears 39 to 29 for the game. The Lady Vikings also helped their cause shooting 11 of 18 from the free throw line, compared to just 4 of 8 for Sterling.
