Behind the scoring of Saedy Arredondo and Abigail Slocum, the Hugoton Lady Eagles, came out on top of the Lyons Lady Lions, 35-20 in the Sterling Girls Invitational Basketball Tournament on Friday at Sterling High School.
Hugoton jumped out to a 14-1 advantage after the first quarter. Lyons did pull themselves back into the game by halftime, trailing only 16-13, but could not overcome the large early deficit in the end. Arredondo led the Lady Eagles with 15 points, followed by Slocum with 13 points. Lyons had three players with six points, Dayana Gonzales, Peyton Kruse, and Sierra Belote. Hugoton moves to 3-5 on the season and will face Kingman in a battle of Eagles for fifth place at 12:00 pm in the Ora Shields Activity Center at Sterling High School on Saturday. Lyons, 1-8, will take on Hutchinson Trinity, also at 12:00 pm in the South Gym at Sterling High School. (Dwight Nichols) Comments are closed.
