​Hugoton Lady Eagles Avoid First Round Upset from Smoky Valley

     With just eight players on the tournament roster, the Hugoton Lady Eagles held off the Smoky Valley Lady Vikings by the score of 42-31 in first-round action. Hugoton jumped out to a 27-12 advantage at halftime. Despite a tough second half from Smoky Valley, the Lady Vikings could not close the gap.
      All eight players played, with seven scoring for the Lady Eagles (4-5). Hugoton was led in scoring by Amiley Lewis with 14 points. The Lady Vikings (1-7) were led by Elsie Boughfman with 13 points. Hugoton will now face GWAC league foe Scott City on Thursday in the semi-finals, while Smoky Valley will meet Hutchinson Trinity in consolation play, also on Thursday.
