In the first boys game of the Sterling Invitational Tournament at Sterling College, the Hugoton Eagles fought off a pesky Trinity Celtics for the 62-42 win. Hugoton jumped out front in the first quarter against the Celtics 17-7, before Trinity fought back to close the gap 26-23 at the half.
The Eagles put the game away in the third quarter with a 21-6 advantage. Izeyah Morris had a game-high 17 points to lead the Eagles. In all, 11 players scored for Hugoton. Drew Dechant led Trinity with 13 points. Hugoton will face Scott City Friday at 6:00 pm. Trinity will match up with Kingman at 4:30 pm on Friday. Both games will be played at Sterling College.
